Android consoles appear like mushrooms after the rain. Following OUYA, whose activities in the market are still difficult to call successful, GameStick is releasing its own portable microconsole based on Google OS.
The developers of the gadget are so confident in their creation that they will release the device on the market simultaneously with the launch of PlayStation 4 sales.
GameStick is different from PS4 and other classic home video game consoles. Sony’s system costs $400 dollars in the US, while GameStick sells for just $80. The product was developed as a cheap alternative to consoles, expensive smartphones and tablets. One of the central features is the device is specially designed for children.
GameStick is a set of a miniature receiver, which is inserted into the HDMI connector on the TV, and a wireless controller. The system runs on Android and is equipped with an ARM Cortex A9 processor, a Mali 400 graphics chip, 8 GB of memory for storing files (it is possible to expand up to 32 GB using a micro-SD card). 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are supported. The console also has a parental control system.
