50 people could fall under the reduction.
As reported by the Belarusian IT publication dev.by , former employees asked the publication to remove the studio’s profile from the site. They cited the closure of the Minsk division as the reason: “Gameloft in Minsk ceases to exist. The staff has already been dismissed.”
The studio tenant also noted in a comment to our Belarusian colleagues that the premises have been vacated. Now it is being transferred to another tenant. Gameloft employees were fired on February 1.
UPDATE: Gameloft has confirmed App2Top.ru that the office was closed.
The Minsk office of Gameloft was opened in 2015. Alexey Uslavtsev was appointed its head at that time. It was assumed that by the end of 2016, its staff would be 100 people.
The cuts at Gameloft are the fifth news in February about major layoffs. Earlier this month, employees of Firemonkeys (Electronic Arts), ArenaNet (NCsoft), Activision Blizzard (including two King studios were closed) and Next Games lost their jobs.
