In the first half of 2013, Gameloft’s sales increased by 15% compared to the same period last year. The growth driver was games for smartphones and tablets. Their income increased by 45%. But the company’s net profit has been declining for the third year in a row.
As it also turned out, games for smartphones and tablets are responsible for 61% of Gameloft’s profits (80% of this money is IAPs).
In just six months, the French company earned €109 million (against last year’s €95.2 million). However, Gameloft’s net profit continues to decline. If in 2011 for the first half of the year the company earned € 5.3 million, in 2012 this figure was already €4.6 million, and this year – only €1.8 million.
The company assures that it’s all about high taxes and constant changes in foreign exchange rates. In other words, they are prevented from earning real money not by the fact that to enter, for example, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, it is necessary, attention, to wait three times until the application loads the content, which leads to the desire to demolish the game, but by the unstable situation in the global economy.
Gameloft named its main hits: Ice Age Village, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, My Little Pony (pictured) and Order & Chaos Online.
