In Perm, the Federal Tax Service and the Federal security Service checked the financial documentation of Xsolla.

This was reported by Kommersant at noon today.

In the comment provided by App2Top.ru representatives of Xsolla, it is noted that the check has already been completed.

The check ended quickly, and all employees were released, having received an additional unplanned day of rest before the weekend.

Founder of Xsolla

The company also noted that “The events were held as part of a tax audit on the collection of Russian VAT from foreign companies in the provision of electronic services (the so-called “Google tax”). Xsolla USA was among the first to register with the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation and began to pay VAT when providing electronic services as a foreign company.”

In a conversation with Kommersant, Agapitov explained the check with huge turnover: “Xsolla is registered in the USA. All online purchases from foreign companies are subject to VAT, which in 2019 is 20%. This is the tax on Google. We have huge turnover, and 20% is a large amount. This explains the presence of FSB officers. But we have paid everything.”

Xsolla is an American company based in Russia. Historically, it has specialized in creating a payment infrastructure for games. Last year, it announced its ambitions as a company offering a comprehensive solution for the monetization of gaming projects.
