The publisher of Royal Revolt and Nonstop Knight stated that the only way to make good money today is to have a portfolio of related projects.

flaregames - время самостоятельного издательства на мобайле подходит к концу

The German company flaregames attributes its current success to the transition to publishing more than a year ago.

“About 18 months ago we became a publisher. And we were waiting for success. Thanks to this, we realized that we can do much more by working with great developers who know how to create great games,” said the founder of the company Klaas Kersting (Klaas Kersting) to VentureBeat.

The Germans work according to the following scheme: they acquire traffic for one game. Traffic within the project either simply pays for itself, or allows the project to earn a little. Then flaregames merges the received traffic to its other games. At this stage, the publisher is already starting to earn from the investments invested in marketing.

Publishers claim that this scheme works perfectly for them. flaregames’ revenues and profits have tripled since this January alone. But, of course, without good games – it would hardly be possible.

In the last two months alone, the company has released two big titles: Olympus Rising and Nonstop Knight. The latter, by the way, was able to overcome the threshold of 4 million downloads in a month thanks to organics.

But not only the publisher needs good projects, but also projects – publishers.

“We live in an amazing time. The dynamics of the market are playing into our hands. User purchase prices, driven by market titans like Machine Zone and Supercell, are rising. And there is no end to it. This completely changes the economy for the developers of one game. The time of independent publishing is over. You can, of course, bet on a unicorn, but that’s not how business is done,” says Kersting. – “You need a portfolio [of related projects] to earn big.”
