While the developers of Fall Guys are enjoying the explosive growth of the title, gamers are dissatisfied with the device of the in-game currency. The coolest skins can be bought only for “crowns”, which are given for winning the final level. The problem is that only the most hardcore players get it.
Funny battle royale Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was released in early August and instantly became a hit. According to SuperData, during the premiere month, the game earned $185 million on PC alone. At the same time, Fall Guys also has a console version, the revenue of which has not yet been disclosed.
The gameplay of Fall Guys is simple — within a single match, players must complete a series of levels. 60 players start the match, but with each level there are fewer of them. Only one participant can become the winner.
The end of the first season is approaching — the next one starts in October — and part of the gaming community has begun to express sharp dissatisfaction with the royal battle. It’s all about the unfair reward system and the excessive complexity of the game, due, among other things, to the randomness of the process.
Note: there are two in-game currencies in Fall Guys. The first is “glory”, which gamers get for free for participating in matches. The second is “crowns”, which are awarded to the winners of the battle.
Players can exchange both currencies for skins. But the rarest and most beautiful cosmetics are sold only for “crowns”.
It’s hard to get the “crown”, the players admit. Fall Guys is a game without a team mode, unlike PUBG and Apex Legends. Here, strong teammates will not “drag” the match if one of the gamers does not play well enough. In Fall Guys, everyone is for himself, and a beginner has little chance of getting to the “crown”.
I really love Fall Guys. I don't want to be toxic, but it bothers me when games focus only on skills. I don't like that I can lose because I don't watch guides on YouTube and don't train all day. This has already happened with Overwatch, when developers started paying full attention to high-level players, and I stopped running the title. I'm afraid it's going to happen to Fall Guys now.

Players write that just losing does not bother them much, the inability to buy a cool skin is much more frustrating. Some of them go to fraud and use cheats, but this only heats up the discontent of the rest of the gamer base: “why should we spend days to pass the finals and get the crown, and someone wins it by cheating?”.
On Reddit, user heyitsm4tty even suggested an alternative reward system that could reduce the degree of dissatisfaction of Fall Guys fans.
In his opinion, everyone who has reached the last level deserves a silver “crown”. Ten of these “crowns” can be exchanged for one gold. This will not reduce the pleasure of the game and will allow not the strongest gamers to also buy the cosmetics they like.
And although some gamers said that the innovation would deprive the royal battle of meaning, the leading game designer of Fall Guys Joe Walsh promised to think about the idea of an honest reward.
Walsh also noted that the developers are already looking for a way to even out the balance in the game, but have not yet promised anything concrete.
