Former Apple lead designer Michael Hillman has headed the Oculus VR hardware development department.
Oculus was enthusiastic about Hillman’s appointment.
“We have a world—class team that led the development of Rift and Touch, we intend to continue investing in hardware, because we want to expand the boundaries of virtual reality technology and create products for a new generation of consumer VR,” the company said.
This is the next significant acquisition for the Oculus staff. In January, Facebook appointed Hugo Barra, who previously held the position of international executive director at the Chinese company Xiaomi, as the new head of the VR division.
Michael Hillman was the chief architect of Apple’s consumer products for desktop computers and spent 15 years working at the corporation.
