Apple is on the verge of a new trial. This time Facebook complained about her. The social network has told the European Commission that the “apple” company prevents competition on its platform. Facebook reminded the European Commission that the App Store remains the only platform through which developers can distribute their iOS products.

According to the company, Apple has created a system that puts its own services in a privileged position relative to others (we are talking about both applications and payment systems). Thus, it harms the latter.

As an example of such a policy, the company cited its Facebook Gaming service, which Apple did not miss in the App Store until the embedded games were completely removed from it.

This created additional difficulties for Facebook, because due to the policy, developers had to fix and submit new versions within six months. “Developers who post their games on Facebook Gaming cannot attract new users on iOS, because people simply cannot play their products on it, the company said in its appeal to the European Commission.

Facebook stressed that it develops applications for all platforms and operating systems, but only Apple creates so many difficulties.

The social network also separately expressed its concern about the company’s future innovations. In particular, she noted that Apple’s decisions may negatively affect the advertising market.

We are particularly concerned about changes in the company’s policy that will affect the ability of developers to offer services that compete with the services of the platform itself. For example, the operating system tightens the rules for developers’ access to data and their collection. These actions have been very important for the functioning of advertising services for a long time, the restrictions imposed can harm them, as well as their users who rely on them.”
