Former technical director of Pixar animation studio Jiayi Chong presented Midas Creature, an intelligent tool for animating 2D images.
The Midas Creature engine processes the instructions of artists and designers, transferring them to the drawn hero and setting him a certain manner of movement.
An example of the operation of the Midas Creature algorithm
In her work on Midas Creature, Chong used the experience gained while working on the animated films “Toy Story 3”, “Wall-I” and “Up”.
Midas is positioned as an alternative to traditional animation methods, such as keyframe animation and Flash. Also, Midas Creature is able to use these “motion capture” technologies for 2D animation.
The program is available in two versions: Creature Enterprise e and Creature Indie. Enterprise is a full—featured version for large studios, operating on an annual subscription. The Enterprise package will cost $2 thousand plus $200 for each workplace
Creature Indie has the same functionality as Enterprise, but is designed for companies with an annual turnover of less than $ 100 thousand. Indie comes with a 30-day license and costs $20 dollars.
