After the postponement of Battlefield V, Electronic Arts shares fell by 12%

On August 30, Electronic Arts announced the postponement of the Battlefield V release from October 19 to November 20. The company explained this by the desire to polish the mechanics and add more content to the Tides of War game service.

But, most likely, the main reason is connected with the release in October of three blockbusters at once. It’s about Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

The company could consider it a much better step to slow down the release of the game than to openly compete with other gaming colossi.

Electronic Arts also stated that the postponement of the release will affect the results of the fiscal year.

The company will earn $350 million less than planned for the current fiscal year.

The market reacted to the news with a drop in quotations. If on August 29, the Electronic Arts stock cost $128, then on August 31, its value fell to $113.

Tencent’s Valuation dropped by $20 billion due to childhood myopia

The Ministry of Education’s plans to limit the number of games released in China hit Tencent: the company’s value fell by almost 5% (about $ 20 billion). Alibaba is now ahead of Tencent in terms of capitalization.

The market reaction is expected. After the announcement of government regulations, a number of investors feared that the initiative would not have the best effect on Tencent’s gaming business in the long term.

Recall that the official reason for the possible restriction is the desire of the Communist Party to reduce the number of visually impaired youth in the country.
