FIFA 18
Unlike Valve, 2K and Blizzard, Electronic Arts has long disagreed with the Belgian ban on loot boxes.

The publisher insisted that games with loot boxes do not belong to gambling and do not violate the laws of Belgium. Belgium responded by launching a criminal investigation against EA.

But on January 29, EA lost ground. She announced that she would remove the loot boxes from the Belgian version of FIFA. From February 31, the transfer of football players will be transferred to in-game currency. The purchase of FIFA points for real Belgian players will be banned, but it will be possible to spend the existing ones.

Nevertheless, EA still does not share the opinion of the Belgian authorities about the loot boxes, PCGamer reports.

We do not agree with the way Belgium interprets its laws. We will seek more clarity on this issue.

Electronic Arts statement

The presence of virtual boxes with random loot in games in Belgium threatens publishers with a fine of € 800 thousand. Not to mention the fact that the games themselves will be blocked.
