Technical testing of Project Atlas starts on Wednesday. This is a cloud gaming service from Electronic Arts.

About testing

The test will be held in closed mode. Some players will be able to play “in the cloud” in FIFA 19, Titanfall 2, Need for Speed: Rivals and Unravel. Those interested can apply for registration in Project Atlas right now. But this requires an account in EA Origin.

According to EA’s statement, this is not an official beta test. The participation of real players will allow you to test the power of the service in various conditions. For the same reason, titles of diametrically different genres and graphic requirements were selected. The creators of the platform will measure with what delay and in what maximum resolution the picture is transmitted. Testing will be cross-platform, writes VentureBeat.

About the project

Project Atlas was announced at the end of last year. It has two main goals.

On the one hand, the platform has functions similar to Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud.

On the other hand, EA also calls the project “a comprehensive platform for developing games based on the Frostbite engine.” That is, it is positioned as an environment for both streaming and creating game titles. The last aspect of the service will not be tested yet.

The approximate release dates of Project Atlas are unknown.
