The French developer and publisher DotEmu announced the imminent closure of its digital store selling retro games.

The reason for leaving the market was the growing competition from other online platforms for game distribution.

“After 6 years of work, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the termination of our store. The number of competitors is growing all the time, and the rivalry has become too harsh. Now DotEmu will focus on the development and publishing of games for consoles and mobile devices,” the company said in a statement.

Despite the liquidation of the store, DotEmu will continue to adapt and release old games for modern platforms. The company is currently working on a remake of the Wonder Boy platformer: The Dragon’s Trap by Sega. Most likely, it will also be sold on the GOG and Steam platforms.
