Sales of the console version of Death Stranding in Japan amounted to almost 186 thousand copies in the first week. The game turned out to be the largest launch of a new IP in the region for the current generation of consoles.

The title surpassed the sales of the previous record holder from Sony — Bloodborne. It sold 152 thousand copies in Japan seven days after its release.
However, as a game by Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding didn’t start so well. Its sales in Japan for the week were lower than all parts of Metal Gear Solid.
