Dauntless’s audience has grown to 5 million players in less than a week. The game was officially released on May 21.
During the open testing, the number of players in Dauntless reached 3 million. The open beta stage lasted about a year, according to Gamasutra. Then the game was released. According to the developer Phoenix Labs, 500 thousand new players appeared in it during the first day. She made another million last weekend.
For an indie project, such an influx of audience is really impressive. In this regard, however, difficulties arose. Dauntless players had to endure endless downloads and departures, as well as waiting in line for servers for a long time. But over the past weekend, the developer managed to solve a number of technical problems and establish the stability of the game.
Fritupley action from Phoenix Labs is a game about hunting giant monsters. The closest genre analogy is Monster Hunter: World. Dauntless, however, differs from it in “cartoon” graphics.
The game is available on PC (via Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One. It supports cross-platform, so players from different devices can hunt monsters together. In the future, the title is promised to be released on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms.
