The developer of Warface and Crysis is closing five of its seven studios. The company will focus on creating premium products.
Today, December 20, Crytek announced that it will focus all development in the Frankfurt and Kiev studios. All other divisions “will no longer be part of the company.” The others mean: Crytek Black Sea in Bulgaria, Crytek Budapest in Hungary, Crytek Istanbul in Turkey, Crytek Seoul in South Korea and Crytek Shanghai in China.
CRYENGINE will remain the basis of Crytek’s strategy,” the company said in a press release. The company’s management promises to release regular updates to the engine. It is also stated that the company “will continue to develop and work on premium products.”
The news about the closure of five studios came after it became known in December that since spring the company had not paid or delayed salaries to many employees. A little later, information appeared that the company had started the payment process at its head office in Frankfurt.
