The general manager of the Chukong Technologies branch in the USA, Lei Zhang, said that this year the Cocos 2d-x engine will have new features.
The key point will be full 3D support. Zang did not promise that the engine would have it, but said that working on it would be the main task of the team.
He also urged developers to pay attention to the Cocos Service Center platform. According to Zang, with its help, it will be possible to easily integrate various plug-ins into games, from analytics to advertising services.
“Quite often mobile studios spend up to 40% of the total development time to integrate the SDK of various services into the game. Cocos Service Center engineers will provide [them] with specially configured and certified Cocos2d-x plugins designed for those services that participate in the program.”
Cocos Service Center is expected to be launched this year.
Cocos 2d-x was created in 2010 in China. According to the authors of the engine themselves, more than half of the highest-grossing local games are made on it.
