The Chinese company Snail Digital sued the Fox film company for unproven assistance and financial assistance in the development of games based on the film War for the Planet of the Apes, which is why the start of projects was disrupted.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Snail Digital paid Fox $2.5 million plus royalties for the right to create a game based on the Planet of the Apes franchise.
Snail Digital wants to return the $2.5 million paid and the lost profit due to the disruption of the launch of games. It is assumed that the entire amount of compensation may amount to more than $ 3 million.
The studio claims that Fox did not provide the required materials for the film on time and almost did not cooperate with the studio during the development process.
All this prevented the launch of the games simultaneously with the release of the picture on the screens and eventually led to the cancellation of projects.
As noted in Pocket Gamer, the charges may be fair. For example, the mobile strategy Terminator Genisys: Future War released a year after the premiere of the film Terminator: Genesis by Plarium studio did not enter the top 250 box office games of the American App Store.
