The initial sales of the new CD Projekt role-playing game were lower than predicted. But the company assures that it is not about failure.
“Blood Feud: The Witcher”
As part of the announcement of the financial results for the third quarter, CD Projekt said that Thronebreaker, although it received a warm welcome from the press and players, did not meet commercial expectations.
The game was well received. It is important to note that the novelty is a much less ambitious project than any of the three parts of the Witcher. Because of this, it was much more difficult for her to get high grades. However, the game aroused the interest of the community. This affected our forecast, which, unfortunately, did not justify itself.

Despite this, CD Projekt remains optimistic. The company is confident that the project will be successfully sold for years. Plus, they note that we are not talking about a commercial failure. They say that the problem is too high expectations.
Now the company plans to transfer the game to the console. She thinks it will help sales. CD Projekt does not plan to make a big discount on the project, the game has only recently entered the market.
The fact that the project first appeared on CD Projekt’s own site, the company explained that GOG is a priority platform for it. The company wanted to release the game primarily for those players who support it, including as a distributor.
However, CD Projekt notes that Thronebreaker is an unusual project for the company, so its release should not be taken as an example for future launches.
Release Thronebreaker, an isometric role-playing game in the world of The Witcher, which was originally conceived as an expansion for GWENT, took place on GOG on October 23. It appeared on Steam on November 9. Since that day, the number of its players on the Valve platform has reached the mark of 20 thousand.
