As reported in GOG, since October last year, the digital platform has been undergoing restructuring. Within its framework, the management had to dismiss “about a dozen” people. But since the beginning of the restructuring, twice as many new employees have been hired at GOG, and 20 more vacancies remain open, a representative of the store said.

However, a Kotaku source — one of GOG’s former employees — said that 10% of the staff had been laid off. He is sure that the store is in a difficult financial situation, and explains the cuts with this.

“GOG’s revenue did not grow much, and in recent months it turned out that we were dangerously close to financial losses. We went through a reorganization, shuffled some teams — a common thing. But there have not been such large—scale layoffs yet,” the source said.

“Blood feud: The Witcher. Stories”

CD Projekt has always noted that the priority platform for them is their own store. But when the publisher’s latest game, “Blood Feud: The Witcher. History”, financially failed, then one of the reasons he called “a small GOG audience”. The game was later released on Steam to increase its reach.

Also, the “Gwint” released on GOG was recognized as a commercial failure. This was reported by two sources in the studio. Both of the above games were released last year.

What happened in GOG is the sixth news about mass layoffs in the gaming industry in February. Previously, employees of Firemonkeys (Electronic Arts), ArenaNet (NCsoft), Activision Blizzard, Next Games and Gameloft lost their jobs.
