The British studio Rodeo Games has closed. The paid title of the Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch team turned out to be insufficiently box office. Even the App Store feature didn’t help indie developers stay afloat.

Rodeo Games studio gained fame after the release of a tactical strategy for mobile Hunters devices. The next team released a turn-based paid RPG Warhammer Quest. Then came another game in the franchise – Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch. Also paid.

The project has gathered positive criticism. However, I got to the first place in grossing only 1 time – in Saint Lucia (this is a small island state between the islands of Saint Vincent and Martinique). According to an employee of Rodeo Games, Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch has become the studio’s most box office successful project. Moreover, the title was posted by Apple on the main page of the App Store. However, there were still not enough funds to support the work of the studio. 5 months after the launch of the project, almost all studio employees quit.

“Me and most of the team left 4 months ago, so as far as I know, there is no one to support the game or upload new content. As is the case with most indie developers, you are successful just as much as your last game is successful,” one of the former Rodeo Games employees shared on the Touch Arcade forum.
