The main console release of March is a new part of Animal Crossing with a subtitle New Horizons. In the first three days, the game sold 1.88 million copies in Japan alone (this does not include digital copies sold).

These figures are given by the Japanese edition of Famitsu. It also notes that this figure includes:

  • direct sales of physical copies;
  • sales of cards with a game download code;
  • sales of the Nintendo Switch bundle together with New Horizons.

In terms of physical sales, the new Animal Crossing has overtaken Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Released in November last year, the Pokemon kit sold 1.3 million copies at the start. At that time, this made it the fastest selling release for Switch in Japan. Now the palm tree is for New Horizons.

By the way, the latter is now also among the three most viewed projects on Twitch, overtaking both Half-Life: Alyx and Doom Eternal, whose online audience is almost half as much.
