According to analysts from Gartner, global sales of smartphones to end users in the first quarter of 2013 reached 210 million units, which is 34.8% higher than in the same period last year (147 million) and 44% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2012.
In total, their share in global sales of mobile phones was 49.3%.
It should be noted that the overall growth in sales of mobile phones in the world in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, turned out to be only 0.7%, and the only region where sales growth was observed was Asia-Pacific.
What is the dynamics of changes among the main vendors in the smartphone segment? Confident leadership is supported by Samsung, which “grabbed” a market share of 30.8% in the first quarter (27.6% a year ago) with 64.74 million devices sold. Apple, the second company, despite the larger number of smartphones sold, reduced its share from 22.5% to 18.2%.
