According to Google Ventures partner and Android co-founder Rich Miner, there is no such problem as fragmentation for the average user.

At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology forum, Miner called the fuss around her “overblown.”As reported by Xconomy,

The miner said that geeks read blogs and know what features may be missing in the old version, present in the new one. However, if you ask an ordinary user whether his smartphone needs an update, the answer will be unambiguous. The consumer is quite satisfied with the available capabilities and characteristics, which means that this problem does not deserve attention.

Moreover, the Miner believes that fragmentation will always be the least of the problems. And it does not interfere with the growth of the popularity of Google’s OS. “Don’t forget that 1.5 million Android devices are activated daily. There are already more than 900 million of them on the market,” he said.

Google has made every effort to deal with this issue. And apparently, the company is on the way to success. According to recently published statistics, one of the latest versions of Android – Jelly Bean 4.1 is now on 37.9% of devices. This means that the new OS version has finally overtaken Android 2.3 Gingerbread in popularity. It is now 34.1% of devices.
