Amazon is working on a cloud service similar to Microsoft’s Project xCloud and Google’s Project Stream. GamesIndustry edition.biz reports that Amazon will launch the new product no earlier than 2020.
According to The Information, Amazon is negotiating with game publishers about the possibility of placing a number of titles in its new service. This information was confirmed to the publication by two knowledgeable sources.
They claim that Amazon will allow players to run games on a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. The company itself has not yet announced such plans.
In March last year, Amazon launched the cross-platform GameOn tool. It allows developers to hold in-game events with real and virtual prizes. Using the API, developers can embed leaderboards and competitive modes into their games with support for any operating systems and devices.
