The Japanese company GungHo has published its financial results for the second quarter. The company loses both in revenue and profit. The main reason is the drop in interest in her main game – Puzzle & Dragons battler.

The company’s revenue decreased by 21% to ¥23.4 billion ($210 million) compared to the same period last fiscal year, and profit fell by 26% to ¥8.7 billion ($87.2 million).

GungHo plans to solve the problem in two ways.

The first is the development and distribution of new games. As part of this initiative, the company has already released in December last year the PS4-exclusive LET IT DIE from Grasshopper Manufacture, the developers of Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw.

The second strategy of the company is collaboration with other market participants and the release of updates. GungHo is going to present characters from the games of its competitors in its game as part of the events.

Puzzle & Dragons is one of the first mobile games to earn more than $1 billion. The project was released in February 2012, but it gained wide popularity only in 2013, when its aggressive advertising was launched on Japanese television.
