Polygon has announced layoffs in the state of the largest streaming platform Twitch. According to the publication, the reduction affected about 25-30 people. Some of those dismissed have worked for the company since its foundation.
The personnel purges mainly affected the Twitch Studios online broadcasting studio, the community relations department and the marketing department.
As the esports consultant Rod Breslau reported on Twitter, some employees were fired by the new vice president of the content division, Michael Aragon. He preferred not to meet with the employees in person and conveyed the unpleasant news by phone.
Among others, the dismissal affected the former vice president of the community relations department, Justin Wong, who worked at Twitch for more than 6 years.
Twitch confirmed the information about the layoffs, explaining the decision by optimizing the work of departments.
