Last week, the announcement of the second game from the studio D-Pad Studio, indie developers from Norway, who managed to become famous for the still unreleased platformer Owlboy.

The second game of the studio, in fact, will be the first. The developers promise to finish Owlboy only after the release of Savant (that’s the name of the new game), which will take place on July 30.

The project is distinguished, firstly, by cool pixel graphics, which, in principle, is not surprising. Such graphics are the business card of the studio and its founder Simon Stefanson (Simon Stafsnes Andersen).

Secondly, the project has a curious gameplay.

The game takes place in a Gothic-looking elevator shaft. The user will have to play as a magician who, jumping from one rising elevator car to another, fiercely fights off monsters trying to get to him.

It looks like a crazy “essay on the theme” of the classic Castlevania.

And, thirdly, the game is being developed in collaboration with Norwegian electronic musician Alexander Vinter, known under the pseudonym Savant (as well as Vinter in Hollywood and a dozen more). Actually, as you can already guess, the project is named after him.

Savant specializes in dubstep, so you definitely don’t have to worry about the musical component.
