While TikTok‘s owners are selling the American part of the business, Tencent may temporarily stop worrying about the fate of WeChat. A federal judge in the United States temporarily blocked the decision of President Donald Trump to remove this social network from stores.
Recall that starting last Sunday, Trump’s order on the TikTok and WeChat ban was supposed to come into force. But federal judge Laurel Beeler ruled that WeChat will remain in place.
Bieler supported the social network users who had previously filed a lawsuit against blocking WeChat. In their statement, the plaintiffs indicated that the administration’s actions violate the First Amendment to the US Constitution. According to the judge, the users provided convincing evidence, but does not specify which ones specifically.
Note: The First Amendment guarantees that the United States Congress will not approve the state religion, violate the rights of citizens to freedom of speech, press, assembly and religion, as well as restrict the right of the people to petition the government to satisfy complaints.
The judge also overturned a government decision that prohibited American companies from making any WeChat transfers.
The ban of the Biller is of a preliminary nature. The Commerce Department and the White House left the situation without comment.
