Hong Kong-based game company Animoca Brands has acquired the Finnish studio TribeFlame. The total amount of the transaction may amount to €350 thousand. Tribeflame is known for the Benji Bananas series of mobile arcades, whose total downloads have exceeded the 107 million mark.

Animoca will pay TribeFlame in installments. The company has made an advance of € 50 thousand for the studio and its subsidiary, which supports the Benji Bananas franchise. Later Animoca will pay TribeFlame another €50 thousand.

Animoca plans to split the remaining amount into two parts. TribeFlame should receive up to € 100 thousand, depending on the financial performance of the studio. The last share of up to €150 thousand will be paid to Finnish developers in 2020 in cash or shares.

With the purchase of TribeFlame, the Chinese company hopes to accelerate the development of the Crazy Defense Heroes tower defense for Android.

TribeFlame is the second Finnish studio in the assets of Animoca Brands. In 2016, the company acquired TicBits, paying €2.35 million in advance. Another €1 million TicBits should receive this year.
