A book about the history of the gaming industry in the post-Soviet space has been released for sale. It’s called “Our Game”. Judging by the announcement, its authors on 368 pages tried to cover all segments of the domestic market — from the development itself to localization and journalism.

Among the stated topics are a story about famous gaming companies (for example, about Nival and ZeptoLab), and an explanation of the appearance of jewel cases on the Russian market, and coverage of the situation with gaming education in the CIS.

One of the tasks of the book, according to the authors: to explain why “our” industry looks and works according to certain rules. In particular, why most of the teams in it today are busy with freeplay titles, and not creating role-playing AAA projects.

Two people worked on the book. Firstly, Mikhail Pimenov, a journalist of the Russian version IGN.com , also heads the indie studio Wonder Games. Secondly, Pavel Tokarev, the founder of the localization company Inlingo.

The first day of sales — October 4 — is timed to coincide with the Igromir exhibition, where it is distributed. Now the book can also be purchased on the publisher’s website. There is no information yet about when it will go on open sale. The authors note that in the largest book chains in Moscow and St. Petersburg, “Our Game” will definitely be.
