According to the annual report of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), in 2016, digital copies accounted for 74% of the total number of video games sold in America.

The indicator includes title downloads, subscriptions, DLC, mobile and social games.
In total, American consumers spent $24.5 billion on video games in 2016. The market volume, including sales of equipment, accessories and VR systems, reaches $30.4 billion.
For comparison, in 2015, gaming expenses of gamers (both for software and hardware) in the United States amounted to only $ 23.5 billion.
According to the study, the average age of an American gamer is 35 years.
