Yesterday, Futuremark announced the release of a version of the popular 3DMark test package for Android on Google Play.

The program is compatible with more than 1000 different devices based on this OS. The application is free, but very voluminous (283 MB).

The developers claim that the scores obtained during testing in 3DMark for Android can be compared with the results for Windows. In the future, versions for iOS and Windows RT should appear, then comparisons of indicators for a very large number of devices running different operating systems will be possible.

3DMark for Android includes two tests: known to Windows users – Ice Storm for graphics and physics in 720p resolution and IceStorm Extreme (the same, but in 1080p resolution and with OpenGL ES 2.0 support).
