Yesterday, the number of app downloads from the Apple App Store exceeded 40 billion.
According to Apple’s press release, over the past year alone, the number of unique downloads from the Apple store has doubled: from 20 to 40 billion downloads. Moreover, according to the indicators, the last month of the past year was a record – in December, over 2 billion downloads were recorded.
Currently, the App Store has over 775 thousand applications for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad (as of September 2012 – 700 thousand) and more than 500 million active accounts. The total revenue of developers developing apps for the App Store has exceeded $7 billion, said Apple Senior vice president for Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue.
