The number of active smartphones in China has crossed the mark of 550 million devices, – said the Chinese company TalkingData. According to analysts, 96% of devices have at least one mobile game installed.

However, there is nothing surprising in the latter. Chinese developers are trying to use all possible ways to distribute their projects. Many go to mobile operators who pre-install partner games on their devices along with their store.

Another figure is much more interesting: at the end of 2013, 9.7% of the total number of mobile gamers became payers. This is 2.5 times more than at the beginning of last year. In specific numbers, their amount has increased by 5 times. They are responsible for 80% of the total profit from the Chinese mobile games market. Most of them – just over 50% – are on Android. For iOS – 44.3%.

The number of players playing at least three, five and ten types of games has increased significantly over the year. If in the first quarter of 2013, 41%, 23% and 8% of people spent time on several types of games, respectively, then by the end of December these figures increased to 89%, 62% and 25%.

Proportion of gamers playing in several genres (1st quarter 2013, 4th quarter 2013)

The number of midcore gamers has also increased (TalkingData considers those who play for one or more hours a day to be such). Their number from the total gaming audience has grown to 28%.
