The German company Wooga, which previously produced exclusively games of its own design, acted for the first time as a publisher of a third-party title.
The firstborn was Crazy Kings, released today, May 21, a shareware game in the genre of “tower defense” from the Finnish studio TicBits.
The project is very close in graphic style and gameplay to the classic Kingdom Rush line from Ironhide Game Studio. One of the key differences, apart from monetization, was the integration into the mechanics of maps: towers and traps in the game are maps. Plus, the heroes in the game have their own inventory.
Preparation for the launch of the title took Wooga and TicBits 8 months of collaboration.
By the way, despite Wooga’s assurances that Crazy Kings is their first publishing project, this is not quite true. The fact is that the current publishing initiative is Wooga’s second “entry” into the wilds of publishing. The first time – with the publication of Airheads Jump from Tactile Entertainment – something did not work out. Now the publisher of Airheads Jump is Crazy Labs.
