One of the highest-grossing mobile games of 2017 has finally become available outside of Asia. Lineage 2: Revolution has appeared in mobile stores in 54 countries, including Russia and the USA.

Its developer and publisher Netmarble was in no hurry to release it to world markets. The project was released in South Korea in December last year. Then, in the franchise’s native country, the game earned $176.6 million from 5 million users in its debut month.

This allowed Lineage 2: Revolution to enter the top three highest-grossing games in December 2016. From January to March 2017, the game was one of the two highest-grossing mobile games in the world. Closer to the summer, it fell in the charts, but it never fell below the tenth place in the world in terms of revenue among games.

In June, she appeared in the stores of eleven Asian countries. In August, it appeared in the App Sore and Google Play in Japan, where today it is in third place in terms of revenue among games.

And only after all these perturbations, having demonstrated the ability to earn huge sums in a limited number of markets, the game goes out into the world.

As a rule, over-successful “at home” mobile Asian projects fail to achieve similar success in other regions. For example, the names Puzzle & Dragons, Monster Strike, Fate/Grand Order and even Disney Tsum Tsum do not mean anything to the Russian ordinary player. However, Lineage 2: Revolution has all the prerequisites to show an excellent result in the world.

The big name allowed the title to gain 1.5 million pre-registrations in the USA and Europe even before the release. Plus, on the very first day of launch, the game in the Russian App Store reached the 4th place in terms of revenue among all applications.

Meanwhile, the advertising campaign of the game is gaining momentum. In the USA, the project is promoted by a popular TV presenter Conan O’Brien. Videos with his participation have already appeared on the network, in which he offers to play the project.

And you have already played, what do you think about the novelty?
