Closed beta testing of New World, a premium MMORPG developed by Amazon Games, began yesterday. Already in the first day of online games on Steam exceeded 190 thousand people. Now she is also in the top on Twitch.
According to SteamDB statistics, the maximum number of simultaneous players in New World was 190,811. At the time of writing the news, the online project keeps around 25 thousand people.
Such a start allowed New World to get into the top ten most popular games on Steam for a day. It was second only to such online hits as GTA V, Apex Legends, PUBG, Dota 2 and CS:GO.
The new MMORPG from Amazon Games also performed well on Twitch. At its peak, the game attracted over 700 thousand viewers, and now this figure is kept at around 68 thousand. Popular streamers play in New World, and ordinary users receive free in-game items for viewing.
It is unclear whether the project will be able to retain players and increase performance after a full release. However, this result already looks better than Amazon’s past attempts to gain a foothold in the gaming market. For example, the peak online of the failed shooter Crucible only reached the mark of 25 thousand people. Last October, Amazon decided to close the project altogether.
New World is a fantasy MMORPG for PC, which has both PvP and PvE content. The full release of the game will take place on August 31. The project does not require paying for a monthly subscription — it is enough just to buy the game for $ 40 (1299 rubles for Russia). At the same time, New World will have separate in-app purchases and paid add-ons.
