In the first three months of the new year, iOS and Android users made 17.2 billion downloads. This is more than last year.
Global downloads for the first quarter of this year were 8.2% more than a year earlier. The main driver of growth is games. This is reported with reference to the analytical company Sensor Tower edition VentureBeat.
From January to March inclusive, games were downloaded 1.95 billion times from the App Store, and 4.7 billion times from Google Play. The growth of game downloads since last year on the App Store was 14%, and on Google Play – less than 1%.
The top leaders in downloads on both platforms looks like this:
- Piano Tiles 2
- Candy Crush Jelly Saga
- Color Switch
- Clash Royale
- Subway Surfers
- Traffic Rider
- Clash of Clans
- My Talking Tom
- Candy Crush Saga
- Temple Run 2
As you can see, Clash Royale occupies “only” the fourth position, despite the very aggressive advertising of the game on the App Store. The leader of the list unexpectedly became the Chinese game Piano Tiles 2.
