One of the reasons for the success of Subway Surfers runner is the regular visual updates of the game. The developers of Temple Run decided to finally adopt this approach.
The total downloads of Subway Surfers, developed by Danish companies Kiloo and Sybo Games, last year exceeded the 1 billion mark. App Annie named the project the most downloaded game on Google Play of all time.
The total downloads of the Temple Run series also exceeded the 1 billion bar. But the popularity of the games of Keith Shepherd and Natalia Lukyanova is still inferior today to the project about surfers.
Apparently, wishing to update the title, Imangi Studios decided to adopt one of the Subway Surfers retention tools. We are talking about regular updates (twice a month), significantly changing the visual side of the game. For example, in mid-March, Subway Surfers players rode in Prague, and at the end of March – already in Madagascar.
In their latest Temple Run 2 updates, the Imangi Studios team is also significantly changing the look of the game. However, the change of settings is not so fast. In December, the Frozen Shadows update was released, sending players to snow-covered rocks. The other day, the Blazing Sands update was released, taking place in a completely different setting.
The key difference between the approaches of Imangi Studios and Kiloo now is that the previous content is not blocked in Temple Run 2. Players can also play in the old territories.
