A few weeks ago, Yacht Club Games studio announced a new game Mina the Hollower. During this time, the authors of the indie hit Shovel Knight managed to raise over $ 1 million on Kickstarter. This is three times the amount originally requested.

Yacht Club Games announced the conquest of the $1 million milestone on February 27. At the moment, Mina the Hollower has been supported by more than 18 thousand backers.

“It’s been an incredible few weeks. We cannot fully express our gratitude for your donations and support for our game!” the developers wrote.

Yacht Club Games launched a Kickstarter campaign in early February. In a matter of hours, the studio reached its goal of $ 311 thousand. The fundraising will end in three days.

Mina the Hollower is an action game with a top view inspired by 8-bit games for the Game Boy Color. As gameplay references, developers call such titles as Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Bloodborne.

In Mina the Hollower, users will have to play as a whip-wielding mouse Mine, which can also move quickly underground. According to the developers, the plot of the game will be inspired by Gothic horror.

The release of Mina the Hollower should take place before the end of 2023. While the studio does not disclose the full list of target platforms, but the game already has a Steam page.

Yacht Club Games is a California indie studio founded by Sean Velasco, a former employee of WayForward Technologies. The team’s first project was the Shovel Knight platformer, for which the studio also raised funds on Kickstarter. The thorny development of the game was described in detail by journalist Jason Schreier in his book “Blood, Sweat and Pixels“. In July 2019, sales of Shovel Knight reached 2.5 million copies.

A couple of years ago, Yacht Club Games also started collaborating with other studios. At the moment, the company has published several titles, including the Cyber Shadow platformer from the Finnish Mechanical Head Studios.
