PUBG Mobile downloads are growing rapidly. To date, the battle royale has been downloaded a billion times. This is despite the fact that the original version of the title for PC and consoles is played by 12 times fewer gamers.

The developers told about overcoming the billion mark on Twitter. They thanked the players and promised to release an update for PUBG Mobile soon.

Separately, analyst Daniel Ahmad commented on the success of the title. He pointed out that hardcore games rarely manage to collect such a large volume of downloads on mobile. Usually, casual projects can boast of a billion installations.

PUBG Mobile's achievement of a billion downloads proves that hardcore games — in this case, an AAA-level battle royale based on the PC project of the same name - can succeed on mobile platforms and achieve scalability. This is an important stage for adapting PC games to mobile devices.

Recall that PUBG Mobile was released in March 2018 and two months later became the most downloaded game in the first half of the year. By September 2020, according to Sensor Tower, its downloads exceeded 770 million. Also last year, PUBG Mobile turned out to be the most profitable mobile game, earning almost $2.6 billion in 12 months.

Now a sequel to the title called PUBG: New State is being prepared for release. The launch date is still unknown, but according to the developers, the release will take place during this year.
