Open beta test of Cliff Bleszinski’s new project — MMO shooter LawBreakers — did not cause a stir among gamers, according to the rating service GitHyp.

According to GitHyp, during the 8 days of open beta testing on Steam, LawBreakers ranked 73rd in the popularity chart of the gaming platform.

The peak of player activity was 7.5 thousand people per hour, the rest of the time the audience of LawBreaker was kept at 3.5 thousand people per hour throughout the open beta.

Number of LawBreakers players per hour

According to GitHyp, this is quite modest for a project of this level.

For comparison, the beta version of the online shooter Paladins, similar in genre, debuted with an indicator of 38 thousand players and continues to enter the 20 most popular games on Steam, collecting an average of 25 thousand people a day every day.

Analysts suggest that interest in LawBreakers could have fallen due to the poor timing of the beta test – in the midst of the Steam summer sale, when gamers are fed up with the abundance of gaming opportunities on the platform.

GitHyp noted that the results of beta testing do not guarantee the success or failure of the project after the official launch, but give cause for concern: Gearbox Software’s Battleborn MMO shooter has lost almost the entire audience over the year of its existence.
