After 3.6 million downloads on mobile, HeroCraft is porting a tactical strategy with elements of the Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf card battler to PC and changing its monetization.
In February 2017, the game will be released on Steam in early access. The key difference between the Steam version is the type of monetization. On iOS and Android, the game is free–to-play, on PC the project will become premium. The developers plan to put a price tag of $ 11.99, and then – after the official release – raise it.
The desire to bring the project to Steam may be due to the success of another game on it, HeroCraft – Tempest. The game about naval battles, developed by Andrey Babak, was also originally conceived as a mobile fritupley project.
In addition to monetization, both graphics and balance will change in Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf.
Dmitry Maksyura, Head of Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf
“We understand that the Steam audience will not accept a direct “port from a mobile phone”, and therefore we set ourselves the task of making a cool PC game valid.
At the time of launch, it will already have improved graphics (textures, lighting, visual effects, as well as a redesigned GUI and controls)”. – marked for App2Top.ru Dmitry Maksyura, project manager. – “In February, the game will still have in-game balance transferred directly from the mobile version. We plan to change this in the very next few months after the launch, and that is why one of our main tasks will be to receive constructive criticism and collect wishes from players.”
Dmitry called the reason for the change of monetization, among other things, that frituplay divides players into categories, and HeroCraft does not want to do this.
“Our goal is to make a cool, classic game. In our understanding, such a game can only have a premium distribution model. Secondly, the freeplay model implies the automatic division of all players into two categories, we want to avoid this, because we see our potential audience on Steam as a whole. Thirdly, this is not just a change in the distribution model of the game, but the first step towards a profound change in the balance, taking into account the wishes of the community.”
