The PC version of the multiplayer RPG Fallout 76 will be distributed only through the service Bethesda.net , the game will not appear on Steam.

This became known from the FAQ for the game on the Bethesda website. One of the questions concerns which platforms the game will be available on. The company’s response is as follows: “Both the beta version and the game itself will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (only via Bethesda.net )”.

PC Gamer asked Bethesda if the game really won’t be on Steam, and a company representative responded positively. As the publication notes, Bethesda clearly wants to add popularity to its own launcher, but this does not mean that Fallout 76 will never appear in the Valve store. Another game of the Fallout Shelter franchise released on Bethesda.net in July 2016, it still got on Steam, but only in March 2017.

Many large companies are dissatisfied with the mandatory deductions for Valve and seek to leave Steam partially or completely. For example, Electronic Arts has its own Origin store, the company refused to distribute via Steam. Ubisoft also distributes its projects through its own Uplay service, although it has not yet broken off relations with Steam.
