Recently, the Finnish studio Seriously Digital Entertainment announced a trilogy of Best Fiends games, which, as its authors hope, will become a big franchise and compete with brands such as Angry Birds and Clash of Clans.
Considering the names of the founders of the studio – Petri Järvilehto and Andrew Stolbow – they are seriously familiar with working on large projects firsthand.
Petri was the lead game designer on Max Payne 2 and creative director of Alan Wake, then served as Vice president of Games at Rovio.
Andrew was vice president of strategic partnerships at Rovio and vice president of mobile projects at Fox.
A year ago, they left the Angry Birds corporation and created their own company with offices in Helsinki and Los Angeles. From the very beginning, they set a course for the development of mobile games and their development into major entertainment brands.
However, until this week nothing was known about the company’s projects. And, to be honest, not much is known now. The announced Best Fiends project pleases so far only with beautiful art: the developers have not yet submitted screenshots. The gameplay, according to The Wall Street Journal, will resemble battlers: players will be able to collect game characters, evolve them, make teams out of them to defeat opponents. Only here on the official website it says that the game is a puzzle.
The game will be released this October.
By the way, Seriously raised $ 2.4 million at the foundation, last May the amount of external investments grew to $ 5 million.
