On September 28, the official release of New World took place and the game immediately broke into the top position of Steam in terms of the number of players. The hype led to problems on the servers, long queues and departures.

According to SteamDB, the peak online New World per day was 707,230 people. In comparison, the Valheim survival simulator, which “shot” at the beginning of the year, in February showed a result of 367 thousand people online.

Such a high online MMO has led to a drop in servers, access problems, long queues and crashes from the game. In this regard, fans have even launched a website that broadcasts in real time on which servers there are places.

By the time of writing, the number of players had dropped to 400 thousand. For comparison, the average daily online Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is about 300 thousand people.

Despite the reduction in users compared to yesterday, people are still standing in queues. On the largest servers, the waiting time to log into the game ranges from 92 hours to 58 minutes.

The developers said that they are aware of the current situation, and have already thrown all their efforts at expanding servers and creating new ones. As reported in the official blog of the game: “Our only goal now is to help everyone log in and start playing.”

The game also achieved high rates of views on Twitch. At the launch, 925 thousand viewers watched her at the same time. At the moment – 500.5 thousand.

New World got into the top five most popular Steam games at the stage of open beta testing earlier in September. Then the peak online was 141,668 people.

For Amazon Games, New World is the first successful game project. Previously, most of the division’s games did not show results. The last big-budget project, the online shooter Crucible, was closed in October last year.
