The Angry Birds Under Pigstruction game released in March in the Canadian App Store may well turn out to be Angry Birds 2, whose worldwide release is scheduled for July 30.

Angry Birds 2 предположительно уже давно тестируется в рамках мягкого запуска

The British edition of Pocket Gamer suggested that users who closely follow the novelties of Rovio, without knowing it, have long played Angry Birds 2.

The theory of the publication boils down to the fact that Angry Birds Under Pigstruction, which was released this spring in Canada (and a little later in Australia), whose mechanics in most aspects repeats the mechanics of the original classic title, is just the official sequel, which after leaving the softlatch will receive a deuce in the title.

The British edition supports its theory with the following observation: the red bird on the Angry Birds 2 promo art and it on the Under Pigstruction icon in the App Store are almost identical.

Another argument in favor of what was said is that the new character Under Pigstruction – the gray bird – lit up in the same Angry Birds 2 advertising poster.

The very name of the game Angry Birds Under Pigstruction can also be regarded as a hint of further renaming of the project.

The comment from Rovio, which Pocket Gamer received, is rather another argument in favor of the assumption made by journalists: “all we can say about this is that Angry Birds 2 is our first sequel to Angry Birds, and it will be launched worldwide on July 30.”

Rovio’s desire not to advertise the full-fledged second part ahead of time is understandable. Based on the indicators of the project, the company, in case of failure, could quietly close it without attracting unwanted attention to this event.

We wrote in detail about Angry Birds Under Pigstruction right after the game was released in Canada. At that time , the innovations were as follows:

  • introduction of energy
  • introduction of the arena
  • replacing bird figures with their cards
  • the appearance of bosses
  • the appearance of spells
  • three-dimensional graphics
