Glu Mobile, which produces a game about home improvement Design Home, has added a store of real interior items to its project. Now players will be able to buy accessories for their home and receive in-game currency for them.The online store was named Design Home Inspired.
Players will be able to find thousands of accessories and interior items in it — from pillows and lighting fixtures to dishes and carpets. Prices range from $10 to $1,500.
By playing Design Home, users will also be able to earn special discounts for the online store. All items can be ordered by delivery to your home, and for each purchase, players will receive “Diamonds” — in-game currency, which is spent on the purchase of virtual items.
Design Home was developed by CrowdStar studio, which Glu Mobile bought for $45 million. As a result, the game about home improvement actually saved the publisher, since in 2016 he was in a protracted crisis. The company had to close several internal studios and lay off hundreds of people.
Glu Mobile is doing well right now. Last year, the publisher reported a net profit of $10.8 million. This is largely due to the success of Design Home, whose daily audience exceeded 1 million players.
Glu Mobile CEO Nick Earl also announced that the game has been downloaded more than 90 million times, and Design Home has earned more than $500 million during its operation.
