The Khronos Group company, with the support of Valve, LunarG and The Brenwill Workshop, has released the MoltenVK game development platform. It fully supports the Vulkan graphical API on iOS and macOS operating systems.
MoltenVK allows you to convert Vulkan-based game projects to work in Apple’s own graphics API called Metal.
Developers can also create and launch projects with Vulkan support for iOS and macOS in the LunarG Vulkan devkit, which was released together with MoltenVK.
The Vulkan cross-platform API was introduced in 2015 as a contender to replace OpenGL. It allows you to display real-time games and various applications with 3D graphics.
The creators of the system claim that the Vulkan API is up to 50% more productive than the original OpenGL. Testing was conducted in MOBA Dota 2.
